  • Media Using MIDP 2.0 and the MMAPI 1.1

MIDP 2.0 , along with the optional Mobile Media API 1.1 (MMAPI), is a range of multimedia capabilities for mobile devices, including playback and recording of audio and video data from a variety of sources.

MMAPI is takes full advantage of the capabilities that are available, while ignoring those that it cannot support. MIDP 2.0 is a subset of the MMAPI.

It ensures  a device does not support MMAPI,This scaled down version only supports audio (including tones)and excludes anything to do with video or images.

The Mobile Media API (MMAPI) is an optional package within the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME).It provides a standard API for capturing time-based media, such as audio tracks and video clips.

Developed within the Java Community process as JSR 135, MMAPI was designed to be flexible and platform-independent.It makes no assumptions about media formats, protocols, or features supported by various devices.
